Ben Yates, graduated as a podiatrist in 1989 passing with distinction and clinical prize. He completed his surgical fellowship in 1997 having trained in Northampton and London. He completed his masters degree in Sports injuries and management in 1997. He was formally the head of podiatry at both University College Northampton and La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. He was appointed as a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon in 2006 at Great Western Hospital, Swindon. Mr Yates has performed over 14,000 foot and ankle procedures and has a particular interest in the surgical management of the diabetic foot and the surgical correction of forefoot and hindfoot deformity. He has lectured at both national and international conferences and authored a number of peer reviewed articles. He is the principal editor of the textbook Assessment of the Lower Limb (Elsevier, 2009) and he chaired the national conference for Podiatric surgeons in 2011, 2014-2016. He has been the course convener and keynote speaker for numerous postgraduate surgical programmes on forefoot surgery, fusions of the foot, flatfoot surgery, the Diabetic foot and limb salvage. In 2019 Ben was nominated by Health Education England to be the subject of an Advanced clinical practice video for the surgical management of the high risk foot. In 2020 he gained a Meritorious award Royal College of Podiatry for outstanding contribution to Podiatric Surgery and he has worked overseas at surgical missions in India, Vietnam and Ukraine. Ben is a Fellow of the Royal College of Podiatry Surgery and a fellow of the Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons.
