Karinya Lewis
BM, FRCOphth, MSc, CEH
Karinya has over 20 years of experience in ophthalmology and has a specialist interest in cataract surgery and glaucoma.
Karinya initially trained in the Wessex area but has also completed an MSc in Community Eye Health with distinction, leading to her work abroad in South Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria. She continues her international links through the glaucoma DISC network and was one of the authors of the African Toolkit for Glaucoma.
Karinya has an interest in medical education, specifically in teaching ophthalmic surgery through simulation and was part of the first randomised control trial (GLASS trial ) in this area.
Karinya was appointed as a consultant ophthalmologist at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust in 2017.

Performed over 2000 cataract surgeries and over 500 glaucoma procedures.
Royal College of Ophthalmology Surgical Skills trainer.
Lead for the glaucoma service at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.
