Mr Cichero graduated from Queensland University of Technology (Brisbane, Australia) in 1995. After moving to Singapore he set up a high-risk podiatry service at Changi General Hospital and from 2000-2011 he undertook specialist training in podiatric surgery, working in a number of public and private settings, including remote indigenous Australian Communities in the Northern Territory. In 2010 Matthew migrated to the UK and was appointed as diabetic foot co-ordinator and podiatric surgeon at Great Western Hospital, Swindon, undertaking both elective and limb preserving surgery of the foot. Matthew was elected to the Council of the Royal College of Podiatry in 2019-2023 and is a member of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine, Chair of the Medicines and Medical Devices Committee from 2020 to present. Matthew has won a number of awards, was the first dual qualified Podiatric Surgeon in Australia and the UK and has published a number of peer reviewed articles. Matthew’s was also the first Acute inpatient podiatric surgery co-ordinator role in the UK, delivering nationally recognised outcomes and improving healing rates in the top 15% of the country.
