After training at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London Adam was appointed as a consultant surgeon at the University Hospitals of Leicester in 1993 with a specialty interest in colorectal surgery and colonoscopy. He developed particular expertise in local excision and minimally invasive treatment of rectal cancer but has a longstanding interest in day case surgery and was a Project Lead for the Royal College of Surgeons’ Closer to Home initiative in 2006 with a focus on hernia repair under local anaesthetic in community settings.
He now performs day case surgery and endoscopy in a variety of hospitals and health centres and treats approximately 500 patients per year.
Selected Career Highlights
Adam has held senior management positions in the Leicester Hospitals including Head of Surgical Services and Clinical Director and was also Honorary Secretary of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland. Until recently he was a member of the clinical governance panel of the ACPGBI and has led invited clinical reviews for the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
